Licensed Child Care

Sand Point Elementary contracts with the Y to offer play based after-school child care Monday-Friday, from school dismissal to 6pm.

Attendance days are flexible, and financial aid is available.

New PTA run After-School Enrichment Options in 2022-2023!

It’s our last session of the year - we’re going big and doing all the things!

We’ve also worked to lower prices, which now range from $120-200 per class for 10 weeks, with discounts and scholarships available.

Spring 2023 Enrichment Schedule

2023 Spring Session will run 10 weeks (note: only 8 Monday classes with holidays) April 17th - June 23rd

Mondays:

STEM: Intro to 3D Printing (3-5) 2:30-4:00pm New! - Students will learn about the concept of 3-D printing, explore its purposes and the developing industry. Students will learn how to use CAD software and create small personalized projects. Students will apply the Design Process to plan, create, and produce 3-D objects to take home.

Garden Club (K-1) 2:30-3:45pm - Garden Club is back this spring, offering a class to introduce our little squirrels to the joys of gardening! Get your hands dirty and help our community garden grow! Learn about seeds, soil, worms, composting, and healthy nutrition as we make our own fresh snacks each week!

Kids Yoga (K-5) 2:30-3:30pm - Wind down your Mondays with a relaxing and fun hour of kids yoga. Seattle Kids Yoga teachers are committed to upholding the traditional aspects of a yoga practice while making it accessible for children of all abilities, races, genders, and backgrounds. Benefits of yoga practice include self-regulation, mindfulness, physical health, concentration, focus, and more!

Squirrel Soccer Club (K-5) 2:30-3:45pm New! Calling all soccer enthusiasts! Join Sand Point Elementary parent Cassio Oishi (Gui & Theo's dad) to practice and improve our soccer skills together after school on Monday afternoons this spring. We'll work on footwork, passing, fitness, and teamwork, with scrimmages and good sportsmanship! All skills levels welcome.


Tuesdays:     
Rock Band (K-5) 2:30-3:45pm - SPE Rock Band moves to Tuesdays! Pick up a new instrument or continue on with one you're already learning. Choose your songs and learn how to jam together as a group. We will record our different songs and look towards performing them in front of friends and family before the end of the year!


Squirrel Chess Club (K-5) 2:30-4:00pm - Join or continue on with our favorite take-no-guff chess instructor, Charles A Smith, to learn new strategies and improve your chess skills. Coach Smith makes chess fun and easy to learn, all experience levels welcome! Chess can help develop critical thinking, boost planning abilities, improve memory, teach sportsmanship, and help keep a mind sharp throughout life.

Animal Arts w/ Ms. Hanson (K-1) 2:30-4:00pm New! - Calling all artists and animal lovers! Join Ms. Hanson on Tuesdays for an afternoon of art inspired by animals. Together, we’ll explore a variety of techniques and experiment with different materials to create fun, dynamic projects and works of art. See you there!

Tennis Lessons w/ STEF (K-5) Tues 2:25-3:45pm - We're pleased to welcome the Seattle Tennis & Education Foundation (STEF) back to Sand Point! Join STEF's fun instructors as we learn and practice the game of tennis in the play court after school. Sign up for one, or both days to really improve your skills. All equipment provided, just make sure you wear shoes and clothing you can run in!

Wednesdays:

Session 1

Kids Parkour (K-5) 1:15-2:25pm New! - Our non-profit partner Parkour Visions' high-energy kids parkour classes will have students jumping, climbing, swinging, and rolling safely through play spaces. Students learn to move creatively and efficiently, overcome fear, and collaborate in a non-competitive social environment.

Skateboarding w/ Skate Like a Girl (K-5) 1:15-2:25pm - Sand Point is stoked to be partnering with Skate Like a Girl to teach intro to skateboarding this winter in a supportive, empowering, and fun environment! Classes will be held in the gym this winter, all equipment and safety gear provided. Children of all genders welcome!

 

SPE Kids Theater (3-5) 1:15-2:25pm - Our spring SPE Kids Theater class for 3-5 will all about making up our own stories and turning them into scripts ready for the stage! We'll brainstorm ideas for stories to write and perform, work out scripts in small groups, and decide together which original scripts we will perform at the end of the session! Can't wait for the drama!

Session 2
SPE Kids Theater (K-2) 2:30-3:45pm - Our spring SPE Kids Theater class for our younger group of thespians will be taking acting games and mini story dramas to the next level, as well as choosing a new stage play to learn and put on for families and friends at the end of the session. Children will choose what to perform from a variety of age-appropriate stories!

Spanish (K-5) 2:25-4:00pm New! - Join our popular after-school Spanish class run by Mr. Javier! This class has evolved over time into its current format of a table sit around, with fun weekly lessons and games designed to naturally improve our Spanish language skills over the course of the 10-week session.

Poetry Club (2-5) 2:25-4:00pm New! - So, you want to write a poem? Quick! Grab a pencil! Unless you are a real squirrel, I'm not sure they have thumbs. Rewind back to that pencil. Ready, steady, write! Every, Level is welcome! Wild words? Inventive ideas? Bold brains?! Join poetry club, with Laura!

Fridays:

Pokémon Card Battle Club (1-5) 2:25-4:00pm New! - Pokémon is a card game in which two players take on the role of Pokémon trainers, attempting to outwit and outplay each other using different Pokémon creatures and tactics in the arena! Our young Pokémon trainers in this class will get their own trainer decks to duel their friends. Children will improve their decks with booster packs and new cards over the course of the program as they learn deeper strategies and the spirit of the game. Reading and math skills needed to play. All cards included!

Sewing and Crafts (2-5) 2:25-4:00pm New! Would you like to make your own stuffed animal? Or maybe you'd like to design a new outfit for a stuffed animal you already have. Maybe you’d like to be able to make charms or ornaments for yourself, or gifts for your friends and family. Come join Sand Point mom Aili Meister and learn basic stitches and patterns while exploring the magic of felt, thread, and the power of your own imagination!
